Evaluation

Finally got my Character sheet done and im pretty happy with how it turned out considering its not going to be anything like what i want my final character to look like! but there are many things that i like about my hand drawn character so that i a bonus for me.

originally i did want to have my bird character completed as well but time and also my management of it made it a almost impossible task but he is just going to be a basic generic shape so should be ok to just straight box model in cinema maybe using some reel life reference images.

so overall im rather happy with the way everything turned out but there are a few things that i would have done different so im just list a few positives and negatives from this project.

Pros:

  • Got everything completed on time and handed in which is always good!
  • i like my final character and have a good amount of development that i have been missing on past projects.
  • the written side of my character im very happy with i got a lot done and really went in depth with it getting into my characters back story even tho he is a zombie which is something that i probably could of got away without doing but i wanted to get really involved with this character.
  • had fun doing it which is a change i normally hate hand drawn work because it takes me so much time.
Cons:
  • didn't finish the bird
  • would have liked more character images and possibly different angles
  • more facial expressions on the actual character not just drawn out separate.
  • managed my time better
  • didn't make a great start on my back ground and environments
Here is  list of some skills i learnt on this brief.
  • greatly improved my knowledge of photoshop
  • gained knowledge in using textures to colour a character or anything for that matter
  • hand drawing improved slightly
  • learn a little on low poly

Basically finished this Dude!

Here are the finished or what i believe to be finished images of my character well at the moment anyway!

For the above images i used loads of different textures that i grabbed from various different places and put them into photoshop i really learned a lot about using textures on different layers and what worked and didn't work well this did take some time with a lot of trial and error but for a novice in photoshop i think it came out really well and im happy with the way it looks.

Here is my Final character board which i really like again i used different textures to give it this old paper feel with a few blueprint and watermarks for extra affect i also put my signature as a texture.

below is a little experiment i did with textures just thought i would throw this in here.

Here is a quick throw back this is my original design for my character.

Character progression!

Some images of work i have done on my character. slight improvements on the rough drawing but again these aren't intended to be the final product and even when i get the final drawings finished they will just be getting translated into digital 3D work!

hopefully you can see them.

Time plan for next will be to finish my character drawing and try and get the character board out of the way.

First goes at Low Poly

I have been researching and experimenting with low poly effect in cinema 4d i really like the way it looks and the effect it gives environments.

im no expert or anything but these are some of my very first tries at it.

not the best but im still improving my technique more to come!
